Selling on Daraz vs reselling on Shuhaz: two different jobs
· 6 min read · Updated 14 September 2026
Daraz is a shop window with enormous traffic and thousands of sellers on your page. Shuhaz gives you stock to sell to your own audience. Those are not two versions of one job.
This question comes up constantly, and it usually contains a mix-up worth untangling first. Listing on a large open marketplace and reselling on Shuhaz are not two flavours of the same business. They are two different businesses with different skills.
On an open marketplace you compete for a stranger's click. As a reseller you serve an audience that already knows you. Everything else follows from that one difference.
Where the customer comes from
| Open marketplace | Reselling on Shuhaz | |
|---|---|---|
| Who finds the customer | The marketplace's traffic and ads | You, WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok or your shop |
| Who you compete with | Every other seller on the same search page | Nobody, inside your own audience |
| What wins the sale | Price and review count | Trust in you |
| Stock you must hold | Usually your own | None, the vendor ships for you |
| Capital at risk | Whatever you bought | None |
| Price control | Yours, but competition forces it down | Yours, between a 5% floor and 120% of MRP |
The race to the bottom is structural, not bad luck
On an open marketplace a customer sees twenty listings of the same item sorted by price. The rational move for each seller is to shave the price; the rational move for every other seller is to shave it further. Margins converge towards zero and the marketplace is fine either way.
That is not a criticism of Daraz. It is what an efficient open market does, and customers benefit enormously. It is just a hard place to earn a margin as a small seller with no brand, no volume discount and no review history.
In an open marketplace your competitor is one scroll away. In your own WhatsApp list, there is no competitor.
Why the audience side is where the growth is
The scale is real, though estimates of it vary: ECDB puts Pakistan's 2025 e-commerce revenue at about US$5.78 billion and expects 10–15% growth into 2026, while logistics-side estimates for the same year run higher. Take the range, not any single figure. What matters more for a reseller is where the attention sits.
In October 2025 Pakistan had 117 million internet users and 79.9 million active social media user identities. The platforms report large advertising audiences on top of that, TikTok 79.9 million adults, YouTube 54.3 million, Facebook 52.9 million, Snapchat 41.1 million and Instagram 22.4 million. Treat those as reach estimates, not headcounts: they come from each platform's own ad tools, they can double-count one person across accounts, and DataReportal cautions that they do not represent unique individuals. The direction is still unambiguous, if you already have an audience on any of these, you are standing on the channel that is growing.
What reselling changes practically
You buy at wholesale and sell to people who came to you, not to a search results page. No competing listing sits beside yours, so price stops being the only lever and your relationship becomes the thing you are paid for.
You also hold no inventory. Nothing to buy, store, or get stuck with. The order ships from the vendor to your customer and your margin is released once delivery is confirmed.
Costs you simply do not carry
- No capital tied up in unsold stock.
- No warehousing, packing table or daily courier drop-off.
- No paid ads needed to be seen, you already have the audience.
- No commission on your margin.
- No joining fee, and no platform-wide minimum order quantity.
When Daraz is still the right answer
If you manufacture or import your own product, a large marketplace is excellent distribution and you should be on it. If you have a brand people search for by name, that search traffic is close to free money.
But if the plan is "buy something cheap and list it", you are entering the most competitive, lowest-margin corner of Pakistani e-commerce with no advantage at all. Reselling to your own audience is a better use of the same hours.
The honest answer is often both
Plenty of our resellers do exactly that: list their own products where the traffic is, and use Shuhaz to widen what they can offer their own audience without buying stock. One channel brings you strangers; the other monetises the people who already trust you. They do not conflict.
Frequently asked questions
Is reselling on Shuhaz better than selling on Daraz?+
They solve different problems. Daraz brings you traffic you do not have; reselling monetises an audience you already have. If you own a product or brand, use a big marketplace. If you have followers or a WhatsApp list, reselling usually pays better per hour.
Do I need to buy stock to resell on Shuhaz?+
No. You take the order from your customer first, then place it on Shuhaz with their delivery address. The vendor ships directly to them and you never handle or pay for inventory.
Can I do both at the same time?+
Yes, and many sellers do, a marketplace listing for reach, and reselling for margin on the audience they already own.
